San Antonio Busy Kids

Last week, I asked some camps to fill out a survey with all the details I – as a mom – would want to know before signing my own kids up. Here are a few of the arts camps that responded.

On a side note: I am pleasantly surprised at how many are willing to accommodate special needs kids.

Artworks Art Studio
Description: An art studio for children that has been providing summer camps for almost 14 years. Instructors provided open-ended projects and children are able to take the project to his or her level.

Southwest School of Art and Craft
Description: Expand your child’s creative horizon on an historic, shady downtown campus along the river. San Antonio’s large community art school offers more than 100 different one- and two-week long classes this summer, concentrating on a specific media or subject including painting, ceramics, metals/jewelry, photography, sculpture, glass and much more. Creative learning experiences in a positive and fun environment, taught by some of the region’s best-respected art teachers. More than 20 classes for teens this summer.

Paint Paper Scissors
Description: Creative camps for creative kids. Paint, sculpt, and draw your way through summer in imaginative half day or 3/4 day camps. Campers receive professional instruction by caring, talented teachers. Curricula is created by an experienced, professional educator with a masters degree in teaching and a certification in art and elementary education.
