Channeling Manfred Frhr von Richthofen, The Red Baron
Posted by MomOnMars on June 12, 2009About two weeks ago, I sent out an all-call to camps all over San Antonio to complete a short survey. My favorite response … San Antonio ACE Academy.
When I was in elementary school, we performed “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” I was (typecast as) Lucy. The role I really wanted was Snoopy because he got to wear these really cool aviator glasses and pretend to fly his dog house into battle.
Now, while ACE isn’t going to teach your kids how to perform battle maneuvers, it is an opportunity for teens 14 to 18 to find out whether or not they are cut out for a career in aviation. We’re talking hands-on, up-close-and-personal experience at Stinson Municipal Airport, visits to aviation-related sites, guest speakers and a cookout! Do you think they heat up that grill at 10,000 feet????
ACE, which stands for Aviation Career Education, is sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Organization of Black Airline Pilots.
Applications are available online at www.saace.org. But you need to submit it no later than June 20 to be considered.
