For the love of writing
Posted by MomOnMars on December 13, 2011
Do you have a little literary genius in the family? Or maybe a pint-sized storyteller? Kids Ink Young Author Camp can offer kids that creative outlet they need to develop, write, and illustrate their very own book.
In just five days, kids ages 7 to 12 will learn to brainstorm, write, edit, and publish their own story in a personalized softcover book! Youngsters are taught to first read different stories, and then write their own based on a personal experience.
Classes are small (only about 10 kids) so everyone can get one-on-one coaching. Spots fill up fast so hurry and sign up!
The camp costs $175 ($50 deposit) for five, half-day sessions from December 26 to 30. Drop them off at 8:30 am and pick them up at noon.
Kids Ink is a local schoolteacher’s way of giving back and helping spread creativity to young minds. A third-grade teacher with training in gifted education and certifications in special education, English as a second language and pre-kinder, Irene Kistler has such a love for writing, she just can’t keep it all to herself. Writing workshops for children and teens are held frequently for holidays, birthdays or just for fun and are a great way to explore the writing process and make new friends.
As a bonus, the books ($15 a copy) make excellent holiday gifts!
