Have you heard about the San Antonio Sports Fit Family Challenge? If getting your family up, active, and healthy wasn’t motivation enough, there’s an added incentive.

You could win $1,000 cash.

The Fit Family Challenge is a free program and includes events and resources to help get your family more physically active and learning about healthy living. There are free weekly events in different neighborhoods across San Antonio, encouraging families to get active this summer. There are activities scheduled Monday through Thursday in the evening at local schools and parks, to make it easy for the whole family to attend. Plus, each Fit Family Challenge activity features a door prize. The challenge started in May, but there is still time to join and to win.

Just register online and start tracking your family’s physical activity and healthy eating in the Fitness and Nutrition Tracking Log. Check the calendar for upcoming Family Fitness activities, and be sure to attend at least three to get a stamp from each activity on your log. That’s your ticket to entering to win the $1,000 cash prize.

The big prizes are given away at the Big Family Fitness Events. There are four grand prizes in all, and two chances remaining to win. The next fitness celebration is Saturday, July 21, from 8am – 10am at Phil Hardberger Park. Join in the fun at Fitness Fest and present your stamped Tracking Log to enter the $1,000 grand prize drawing.

Mark your calendar for the final fitness event, wrapping up the challenge, Saturday, August, 11, from 8 am – 10 am at Roosevelt Park. Don’t miss your chance to get active with your family, and maybe even win big!

Looking for other places to get active and stay fit with your family?

Search for local parks at Nature Find to find fun trails and equipment stations throughout the city. Try geocaching for fun!

Check out a fitness facility like those at the YMCA and the Jewish Community Center. Or even a center like Alamo Gymnastics and Family Fitness Center, which offers a variety of options for the family, from dancing, swimming, and gymnastics to adult fitness, personal training, and massage therapy.
