Pencils sharpened? Backpacks zipped? Shoes tied (or Velcro-ed)? School’s still ten days away, but Back-To-School is in full swing. Beyond all the doorbuster sales, there are a bunch of very cool promotions you should know about that benefit you, schools, kids and teachers.

Take Mayim Back to School

Texas Instruments is holding a contest on Facebook right now. Tell them how you would use math or science to help your school or community in a positive way, and you could win big. The grand prize? Mayim Bialik (actress with a Ph.D. in neuroscience) will come to your school to teach an integrated math and science lesson and your child’s classroom will get TI-Nspire CX Handhelds, TI-Nspire CX Navigator System, Customized Teacher Training Program, and Data Collection Tools. Have you heard about the TI-Nspire CX? It’s more than just a calculator – it’s practically a handheld computer. And if you miss out on grand prize, there are some awesome runner-up prizes. Twelve first place winners get a TI-Nspire CX handheld, and 25 second place winners receive an autographed poster of Mayim Bialik.

TeachersList.com

This is a great resource for parents and teachers alike. Finding what you need for that school supplies list just got easier with this online site. Teachers post a list, parents find it, and bam – school supplies list in hand, easy as that. Plus, there are a bunch of added bonuses. TeachersList gives rewards to schools that post, free samples to teachers that post, and discounts for parents that make school supplies shopping all the better. This is something to share with your child’s school, teachers, and other parents, making back-to-school a little easier for everyone.

Get • Give • Save with P&G’s myGIVE

Here’s another link to add to your schools supplies list. When you back-to-school shop, you can help School the Nation with P&G. Two ways to work it:

  • Spend $25 on participating P&G brands to get a $5 rebate by mail for yourself, while $5 is donated to Communities In Schools (CIS) on your behalf.
  • For each August 26 brandSAVER® coupon you redeem, P&G will donate $.02 to CIS.

Visit the P&G myGive Facebook Page to see how your shopping can help students find a brighter future.

Tax Free Weekend

Don’t forget, Tax Free Weekend starts right now: August 17 – 19. Want to see exactly what you can get tax-free when you are back-to-school shopping? You can find a list of tax-free eligible items here.
