Rock the Museum at Downtown Tuesday, September 18
Posted by Sarah W on September 17, 2012Have you noticed how much mid-week fun seems to happen on Tuesdays? Ever since the Downtown Tuesday phenomenon (free parking at all City-operated parking garages, lots, and meters from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Tuesdays), the city of San Antonio has been working hard to make downtown a fun and accessible place for locals to enjoy. And everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.
The San Antonio Children’s Museum moved their Free Kids’ Night to every third Tuesday. The San Antonio Museum of Art offers free admission Tuesdays after 4 p.m. During the summer, did you catch any of the free Movies by Moonlight at Hemisfair Park on Tuesdays? And there are a bunch of businesses and restaurants participating in the Downtown Tuesday excitement, offering special discounts when you ask about their ‘Downtown Tuesday special’.
But this Tuesday, September 18, is extra special because Downtown Tuesday has teamed up with the San Antonio Children’s Museum (SACM) and the Hard Rock Café. Families are invited to “Rock the Museum” and enjoy an evening out on the town filled with delicious food, family fun, and explosive education.
Here’s how it works: Your family can come for the museum’s extended hours from 6 – 8 p.m. and get free children’s admission with the purchase of an adult ticket. In addition to the extended hours, SACM will feature fun entertainment for everyone. Your family can marvel at the gravity-defying ball exhibit, art pavilion, bubble ranch, HEB Marketplace, and enjoy exciting never-before-seen live science demonstrations (that’s part of the ‘explosive education’ we mentioned earlier).
Once you’ve explored the museum and enjoyed the exhibits, head to the Hard Rock Café for a tasty dinner. Museum guests get a free kid’s meal with purchase of an entrée. It’s the complete package for a fun evening out, at about half the cost.
Don’t miss an awesome opportunity for family fun at an affordable price downtown this Tuesday. Free parking near the Children’s museum is available at the Houston Street Garage and St. Mary’s Garage starting after 5 p.m.
