The list of Halloween activities just goes on and on, so feast your eyes on these fun events …
Out-of-the-Box Family Fun
Halloween Party at Avocado Cafe
When: Friday, October 26 from 5 pm – 8 pm
Where: Avocado Café and Juice Bar, 18771 Nacogdoches Road, 78266
Dress up and strike a pose at this family-friendly Halloween Party. Have fun entering the costume contest, enjoy delicious treats and hot apple cider. Plus, bring your own pumpkin, or reserve one for just $5 and use their carving tools to create the best Jack-O-Lantern ever to take home or enter in the café’s contest. It’s the perfect evening for family and friends to enjoy at the Avocado Café and Juice Bar.
When: Saturday, October 27 from 7 am – 10 am
Where: Mission Reach segment of the River Walk at Roosevelt Park
Calling all mummies, monsters, and ghouls, join in the Halloween Hustle and work off some of that sugar-inspired energy. There’s a kids fun run at 8 am, and your choice between a 5 or 10 K at 8:30 am. Stay after the race for awards and some tasty treats. Registration fees range from $10 – $40 and registration starts at 7 am the day of the race. Why not hustle a little this Halloween?
SA Symphony Halloween Spooktacular
When: Sunday, October 28 from 2:30 pm – 4 pm
Where: Alamo Heights High School Auditorium, 6900 Broadway St, 78209
This family favorite features music that will conjure up the Halloween spirit in everyone. Hear fantastic music performed by the SA Symphony, wear your costume and enter the costume contest (you could win a prize), and arrive early at 1:30 pm to enjoy pre-concert activities like an instrument petting zoo. Tickets are $16 for adults and $8 for kids, available online or by calling 210- 554-1010.
Sweet Places to Trick-or-Treat
When: Saturday, October 27 from 12 pm – 6 pm
Where: Historic La Villita, 418 Villita St, 78205
Grab your trick-or-treat bags and don your best costume, it’s time for Treat Street 2012. Families are invited to this free event with trick-or-treating, hands-on activities, and entertainment at Historic La Villita downtown. It’s a great way to celebrate Halloween in a safe, family-friendly environment that everyone can enjoy.
When: Saturday, October 27 from 11 am -1 pm / 12pm – 2 pm
Where: Rolling Oaks Mall / Ingram Park Mall
The Simon Kidgits Club invites you to a Boo Bash spooktacular event with mall-wide trick-or-treating, pumpkin fun, games and more. Free for members, and just $5 to join, this is another safe trick-or-treating alternative for families to share together and celebrate the holiday.
When: Sunday, October 28 from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Where: Traders Village, 9333 NE Interstate 410 Loop, 78219
Monster Mash your way around Traders Village this Halloween. They’ve got trick-or-treating (at pumpkin marked vendor locations), a haunted house, musical entertainment, activities, and even a costume parade. Free and open to the public, parking is just $2.
Make Halloween Special
‘Spooktacular’ Bowling Fundraiser
When: Saturday, October 27 from 1 pm – 4 pm
Where: Brunswick Bowl, 4330 Thousand Oak, 78217
Project Angel Fares invites you to a Halloween bowling extravaganza, helping raise funds for kids with special needs and their families from outside San Antonio to visit Morgan’s Wonderland. Teams and individuals are invited to participate, plus don’t forget to wear your Halloween costume and enter the contest (for children and adults). Individual fees are $30, or gather a group and enter as a team for $120. It’s Halloween fun for a good cause
When: Sunday, October 28 from 12 pm – 5pm
Where: HemisFair Park, 600 Hemisfair Plaza Way
Kids and adults with special needs and their families are welcome at this free family-fun event in HemisFair Park. Wear your Halloween costume and trick-or-treat around the park, enjoy family-friendly activities, door prizes, and live entertainment. Plus, local businesses and organizations will be there with information on products and services available to those with special needs. Don’t miss this informative afternoon of fun.
