THE STORY

I’ve often wondered about Gemini Ink.  I’ve heard about it in my circles, but honestly know very little about the organization.  Something to do with nurturing better writers. Very well-respected. I’ve had friends who have studied there and friends who have worked there.

So, today, when I came across Jenn Herrera’s simple tweet: “Go register for summer class offerings,” I had to click on the link. And there I found a veritable feast of classes for writers and writer-wannabes.

Got a budding Emily Dickinson or Edgar Allan Poe on your hands? (egads, am I dating myself?) Try again.  Got a budding Meg Cabot or Rick Riordan in your house? There’s a camp for that.

Based on the description, however, your little scribbler better be serious about writing and – more particularly – learning to write better. The two instructors, Cyra S. Dumitru and Derek Delgado, will be leading the small scribes from praise to prose and poetry. Three hours a day for an entire week. That’s got to help with the writing TAKS.

By the end of the summer session, your prodigy will have a piece to share at a public reading at Gemini Ink. And maybe even one good enough to hold a coveted place on your home refrigerator.

Come with pencil or pen, pad or loose leaf. I’m thinking this one is worth some more investigation.
