Camps
Camps – this is where SA Busy Kids came to be. You see, my son wasn’t really into sports…or any of the usual camps kids go to. And I found myself spending countless hours searching for every obscure camp that existing in the city, trying to find one that might peak his interest. Until one day, I discovered I had amassed this huge database of camps.
Whenever friends would start talking about camps, I’d have suggestions. When school starting asking me for the list, I decided it’d be easier to just put it online…and so began this website.
It makes me happy to think this is *the* most comprehensive list of local camps (maybe except for sports and vacation bible school camps) you’ll find anywhere in San Antonio. Immerse yourself. Find something fun…or unusual…or messy! Leave a comment. And if you see a camp missing, by all means, let us know.

Safety First
Posted 18 April 2011 |
I get my best blog ideas from questions readers ask me on twitter or facebook. Here’s the latest: where can I find good information about how to vet kids’ camps for safety? I love this question because safety is paramount…right above fun….on the best-camp-ever-ometer. Basically, safety falls into five essential areas: staff training staff to [...]
Let epsilon be less than zero…and what does that have to do with camp anyway?

Camp in 1973… • Pink lemonade (fondly called bug juice in my circles) • Jacks (onsies, bounce, twosies, bounce, threesies, bounce) • Swimming until my skin gets all wrinkly • Sack lunches featuring cream cheese and grape jelly sandwiches (don’t knock it till you try it) • Singing songs on bumpy buses • Coming home [...]

Computer camps in San Antonio – not as few and far between as you might believe
Posted 18 March 2011 |
I was just introduced to this amazing new website xkcd.com, which describes itself as a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. It’s really just one very funny guy sitting behind a computer who apparently enjoys words with no phonetic pronunciation and astronomy. I struggle with his comic above, because while I want to cheer [...]

Camp CAMP has long been the gold standard camp for families with children who have special needs. Of course, Eva Longoria has long been an advocate for children of special [...]
